Okay, I went to see a 4:10 matinee on Saturday, but I decided to hold off on posting, and with good reason. Anyway, I liked it. 4.5/5 stars. ****^
Casting: The casting was good. Each actor had the same feeling to them as the TOS one. Well except for Zachary Quinto, but that was mainly because the script called for it. I was pleasantly surprised about Leonard Nimoy’s role.
Story: I liked the story, overall. I find it interesting that Spock chose to accept his emotions. I also liked how they made it an alternate universe. It makes it so that anything can happen.
Weekend Update aftermath: I liked the SNL Weekend Update segment where they were talking about the movie. I liked how Keenan Thompson and Bobby Moynihan dressed up as Trekkies (meaning people OBSESSED with Star Trek, not regular fans). You gotta love it when they remark that the rocks weren’t thrown very hard, and the Trekkies’ sad reactions. Leonard Nimoy’s appearance was as unexpected, if not more than, that of Chris Pine and Zach Quinto. You also have to love the Trekkies’ reaction to seeing him. Seth tried to predict what Leonard would say, but he found out that not all actors play characters just like themselves. When Leonard made that comment about Chris Pine being as good as the original, I half expected William Shatner to come in. Of course Leonard would never admit to Zach being as good as him. Coincidently, after that segment, a commercial for Star Trek came on. Scary.
